cigarettes.[part 2]

from [part 1]
The first time I ever thought cigarette where cool was when... they where always cool. You don't always like whats cool, sometimes you're a square/sissy boy like me who follows the rules. Cigarettes have always been symbolically linked to cool, you can thank Holly Wood for that one. Any Wes Anderson jump off, you're gonna have cool characters smoking.

Okay, now I remember when cigarettes became cool(in my world anyway). It was this movie that was too indie for your life, so indie it might as well not exist, its THAT indie. .. well. not that indie, if it had some big stars in it. I am of coarse talking about Coffee and Cigarettes.

The first time I heard about this movie was around the beginning of high school. My best friend Evan was telling about this boring black and white movie with people sitting around drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes that his older brother Ceasar was watching with his friends. Fast forward a few years later to when I'm 18. I am in California at a friends house deciding what movie we would watch for the evening. I am blown away by the selection of off-beat hipster films readily available in this vast library of awesome. some usual suspects; Pulp Fiction, Blue Velvet etc.

I'm browsing through the shelves and shelves of movies when I come upon a copie of Coffee and Cigarettes. I pick it up and suggest we watch it. I was asked to give a breif synopsys on the film and all I could really come up with was, well, there are people-famous people, smoking cigarettes and chatting over coffee. not exactly the best sell, but i convince the group to watch it anyway.

We start watching it and 15 minute in everyones already bored. But I was super into it. It was intellegent and witty. I would admit its not for everyone, but thats fine right? Be part of a select few that enjoy this work. you'll be that much cooler. I leave you now with one of the finer scenes of the film. The ever timeless Bill Murray's encounter with the Rza and Gza of the Wu tang clan.

we met on the train. [part 2]

This little memoir piece is a continuation of [part 1].

Part II.

This is where I died. It is revealed that her name is Zoe(pronounced Zoe-E, like zooey deschanel). I was sold on her almost immediately. But wait, It gets better!

So obviously the first topic that popped into my mind once I found out her name, was Zooey Deschanel. I asked if she liked She & Him(zooey's band). We got into talking about music And found we listen to pretty similar stuff. On that particular day I was wearing one of my favorite new tee shirts. It's a vintage as fuck Cat Power shirt. I've gotten so much love for wearing that shirt-Cat power is da bomb.

So after chatting about music for a while I start think-dang, this chick has some indie cred foreal. It's pretty exciting when you find somebody who you have common interests with musically. It's something I'm finding to be more and more rare. I guess I like the same music as alot of girls/emo boys, whateves.

So to recap-met a babe-her name is Zoe, and if she read this.. she would probly think I'm totally weird for blogging my life and every exceptional moment in it. Yes, I found this chance encounter with her to be particularly fantastic.

we end up talking for a while and I realize I'm approaching my stop. There was a part of me that wishes it could of been further delayed but then I also wanted to get home. The way everything played out was already just too great-any longer and I could have blown it! It was quite the crazy encounter to meet someone totally interesting/attractive on the subway in New York City.

After learning more about her I saw it Fitting to take down her information. I got her full name to find on facebook and we exchanged numbers. It's alway exciting when you meet someone like this-you can never really say what could happen next and you start to draw conclusions into to the world that could be. I'm not crazy for thinking that/writing this am I?

I'm kinda writing alot-that says something right? It says, this stranger had some hell of an affect on me. I could only imagine what might be on her mind. She could of been unphased by the incident all together. All cercumstances considered I don't know/can say what will happend next. That's what's fun and exciting-not know what's next to come. Though I recognize this was something extraordinary/cosmic and would make a totally awesome story to tell.

just My Type: Portia Doubleday

This is the young starlet who has recently won my heart. Her name is Portia Double day and she was the featured Babe in that new Michael Cera jump off "Youth in Revolt". If you have seen it, you need to. Put that on your to do list. Now.

Every time she came on the screen my eyes were glued. I just wanted to stare at her without interruption but the changing from scene to scene made it a real tease. She is insanely beautiful and has just the cutest mannerisms through out the film. She has that something about her that is Uniquely French/Parisian. I adore the French.

I'm not entirely sure if shes even French, just simply pointing out this quality about her. Her look is totally ripped out of an Urban Outfitters' catalogue. Shes really adorable and I'm gonna guess your having a hard time taking your eyes off her too-aren't you?

Herpes-The new Black?

So I heard this statistic that says, at this rate, in 500 years(or so), natural blonds will be extinct do to it's recessive genic traits. So I have a statistic. I say at this rate, eventually everyone will have herpes. Herpes isn't the worst-plus on a long enough time line...I could image something like "9 in every 10 people have herpes." It becomes a totally normal thing that some people have to deal with, and that 1 in 10 that don't have it will have to just be careful.

I think in the future if this DOES happened, it's up to hollywood and the media to save it. It's inevitable that some celeb of the future with contract herpes(probly Miley Cyrus) and make it the "cool new thing". He or she will be crowned "Avant guarde" and lead a revolution! Making herpes "the new black".

Unless there's a cure for this rather comedic STD, I think this is a pretty good hypothesis. I mean, I don't have herpes but when and if I ever contract herpes, I'd hope I don't have to be bummed on it forever! So that's why I'm leaving it up to the world to make herpes the hot new style of 2000whatever. You can do it! Make herpes the hot new fashion trend that all the cool kids are rockin'!

The new look

There is a beauty in symetry. When I broke my right arm about two months ago, my symetry was disrupted. Fast forward to now and I have a gimpy/ephialtes from 300/'good arm' from scary movie/skinny shit right arm and a jacked/vin diesel/chuck norris left arm. For the past few months my left arms been doin all the heavy lifting-I could see how it all came about.

So now I'm thinkin-hey, this jacked cut-ass arm doesn't look too bad, what if I could get this goin on through out my body? And so the journey begins.

I really never thought I would say this, but I wanna be totally ripped! Not like meat head/steroid/'where did my neck go!' brawlic. Ew nasty gross, who would ever want that. No. I was thinking more along the lines of Bruce Lee or Brad Pitt in fight club. That could work right? Don't get me wrong, the skinny emo/hipster/looking like a fag/weakling look is totally rad and all, I'm just thinking perhaps I could put a cool spin on muscles! I mean, muscles are cool you know?

[I sound like such a jock]

I suppose I'm revamping the the image a little, why stop at muscles! Has anyone at all been wondering about my hair? Course not, why would you-it's MY hair. So anywhoo-right now I'm trying to grow this bad boy out, mean while visiting some awkward stages in between. I'm sure I had a mullet at some point.. Then a bob-cut.. Pony tail mode.. The list goes on.

My goal at this point is to get my hair long and hippy status, like Saul played by James franco in pineapple express. Then when I've reached that goal I may linger their for a week or so before I get the Casablanca-by Julian Casablanca of the strokes. This du is basically long to medium length with ragged bangs. I suppose when I get sick of that I will make my way down to the ever popular greaser/slick-back/dylan rieder/RVCA skate team du that's huge right now in skateboarding.

Phase 1
Phase 2
Phase 3
Ultimately once I've lived all my dream hair cuts I plan to go bald or next to bald. At that point I'd feel that any insecurity I may of had about my hair in the past may at last be put to rest...

...or some deep shit like that.

Boy I have alot to write about hair/myself. Summary? Get ripped and have great hair.

Just my type: Camilla Belle

It's so obvious that I would be in love with her. When I told a friend of mine that I was gonna do a 'just my type' on her, she smugly replied "hahaha you would" . Fair enough. now allow me to elaboarate on this goddess I have deemed suitable for my means-hwahaha!

I'm a simple creature. Basically if an interview of someone exists-and I am lured to read it-and enjoyed reading it, I will love that person(maybe forever). Thus the case for the beautiful Camilla Belle, of which I read of in a Nylon from sometime last year.

Shall we Examine Exhibit A. the eye brows. I am in love with them. They work so well on her-I really wouldnt have it any other way. Her brow clearly rivals that of Joe Jonas. If they stayed together and had a kid, when that kid got old he probly woulda look something like the dad from the OC(Sandy Cohen-do your research). It's weird you know, I feel like Camilla and Joe Jonas are very simular and on par with each other. I would imagine guy feel as lusted towards Camilla Belle as teenage/middle american/normy/white girls would towards Joe. Kinda get what I'm saying?

This girl deffinently strikes a chord in me. I recognize something in her that is beyond a pretty face.

Sigh*

What a babe.

Just My Type: Dylan Rieder

Better late then never! Without further blabbering, this is Dylan Rieder!

So a couple weeks back there was a Gravis demo at KCDC. I knew I NEEDED to be there since the Illusive Dylan rieder would show. So when I finally got to see him for the second time... It was alright... yeah(fucking)right! I fucking melted! Me and every women withing a 5 mile radius!

Besides being da domb pro skater, hes also a total style icon. Pioneering the male "tunic" or whatever you want to call it, Dylan seriously pushes the limits of fashion. I would describe his fashion sense as Taylor swift meets GQ. not getting a sense of what that is? thats Dylan, a totally unique style-on and off his board.

Ps.
Its been hectic, more posts soon!

Just My Type: Daisy Lowe

Everybody. This is Daisy Lowe, the woman responsible for indie-boners as well as scene-queen-soakers everywhere! This girl is F'in Badass/beautiful. Shes kinda a hard 10.
Unlike the typical indie/hipster/Cory Kennedy chic that most willy B'er are sportin', Daisy is of a bit more substance. For one she has boobs that are appreciative of a supportive bra. If this is the first time you're hearing of her, I suggest you google her immediately!
I first heard of her from my friend Dina. She might actually be more into her then me. when I was searching for pics of her to use Dina happily offered to donate from her creep folder of Daisy Lowe pics. Daisy is what you would call, her lesbian crush.

Ps, if you aren't collecting cool/awesome/creepy/funny/hot/interesting pics off the Internet yet, you're really missing out. just sayin.

Cereal is a cop-out

A lot of controversy behind this one. Listen, cereal is Delicious, we all know, but should you really be eating an entire box in one sitting or even having it for more than just breakfast?

Why are you eating all that cereal for anyway? Is it cause you just smoked a fat bowl and cereal is the only thing you can "prepare" that you won't fuck up? Or maybe you're an uncultured dumbass whose idea of "gourmet" is sold in the frozen foods section of BJs/Costco.

You see where I'm coming from? Of course you don't. Alright, so maybe it was a long day and you're too tired to fix yourself a warm meal, perfectly acceptable...once or twice a week. But we both know cereal is your breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack.

You can't help someone who doesn't want your help however you could make 'em feel like shit till they see the light. Beats the hell out of watching on the sideline agonizingly as someone blows it. or you could just not care all together, but then what kinda friend are you?

If you keep up with this blog you might be thinking that I'm overly critical of "losers". That's cause I am. I am because I'm overly critical about myself. A few months ago I was a total loser. Right now I'm working toward being as awesome as I think I am. Consider this my renaissance.

So I'm proud to say I've had the same box of special K on top my fridge for a month now, it's a little more then a half box. It was hard, had to seek rehab, attend cereal anonymous, milk arrest.. Tough habit to break. At some point I needed it so bad, I used water!

Just kidding, I would never do that. Boy I'm kinda a snobb huh?

The perfect friend

All my friends are pricks

These are just some of the things I mutter to myself when I'm having a bad morning. Kinda a bad habit but reflective of my feelings non the less.

I'm a nice person. Facilatating, hospitable, blah blah blah you get the picture. But I'm also a nasty person who thinks mean things in private. I'm not even the type that's passive aggressive about thing, sometimes I'll just say FUCK YOU.

But the majority of the time, when it's something like this morning.. I'll just say to myself, my friends are all pricks. Not to say they're bad friends, though they could be better... But perfect friends? Does anyone have that?

It's annoying when people are overly hyped on their friends, have facebook albums with all their different friends and are totally in your face about how awesome their friends are! They talk about all these people you haven't met or care about in the hopes that you will respond "OMG! Your so fucking awesome! I must be you!". Fucking narcissist prick, you should die.

I would kill that person. I would kill my age 14-16 self. Nuff said.

But yeah, who has a perfect friend they can tell me about? Right now I feel like everyone in my immidiate circle of friends is a prick. The only one I'm thinking might not be a prick is all the way on the west coast and the second he gets back I'll probably find a few reasons to consider him a prick too.

That's how it is isn't it? Our best friends are the one that aren't readily available. When someones far away, it's easier to think of them in a more idealized way. We see them in the best light.

Seriously. If anyone has the ultimate/most super awesome/never downer friend, comment and let me know. Link me a pic of you two frolicing/holding hands/having fun. I need to know this exists!

P.s.
If I've included your photo, it means I think your a prick. Least you know I'm thinking of you. And if you know I love you but have not included your photo, it means I think your a prick but you just haven't been a stand out prick lately. Yeah you Dom<3

Re-Runs

Before I started this blog I would write these little facebook blurbs/notes. So in case you missed it, I present to you, a selection of what I would consider the better of my philosophical Vomit.

enjoy.

love, the kind you fall in. (part 1)

A topic that's on my mind... Almost all the time. Yeah, really. When I see people in love, it makes me happy. What's so fascinating about love? What happens
when you take it for granted?
I was in love once, just once. All the other times, I just wasn't even beginning to be open to the possibility. Now that's a key word, possibility, chance, luck. Stars have to be aligned, you might not know it now, but it doesn't just happened.
I don't mean to dwell in the past, but there was a time that I felt complete. I felt complete but it felt too soon. It felt to soon to be so content with a situation. I don't regret it now, however I do apologize for being so vague. See, it's a touchy topic for me. For a time, I put on a fake smile, told you everything was fine, but I wasn't.
Of coarse everything is okay now. Have you ever asked yourself, "if I could change the past, would I?" then arrive at the conclusion "well, if I did this instead of that, then I wouldn't know what I know now." at that moment I think what we have done is found appreciation for we're we stand.
When it was over,(this nearly 2 year relationship), I was devastated. I was, as cliche as it was, in bed most of the day listening to dashboard. I didn't want anyone knowing this, I was weak and insecure. I was uncomfortable with who I was as an individual.
Time went on and I learned to be smarter, learned to be stronger. I learned that if I wanted to love someone, I first had to learn to love myself. So that's where I am now, taking in the single life. I must say it's overrated underrated. Some times it's like, yeah! Free to do whatever. But loneliness strikes and I'm like, crap, I wish there was some to talk to, make me laugh, cuddle etc. But really, who is unfamiliar with this.
Now, it's been a million years since the worst heartbreak of my life! Jeez. Anyway, life goes on. I don't monitor her, although I do get a sorta immature hateful vibe from her. It's behind me now. As much as I don't want to admit it we can fall in love again. I have yet to prove this to myself but the evidence is overwhelming.
I could lie and say something like... I'm gonna just focus on the new semester at school and not even bother with girls. although my sights are set on my personal success I will always keep a clear peripheral on love.

love, the kind you fall into (part 1.5)

The Internet will lead you to believe almost anything. I was reading up on this forum that was all about how you don't need any game, could be wak as fuck and still get beautiful women. The general approach was really to mind fuck these chicks into submission with your back handed compliments and have them eating out of the palm of your hands.

That's all fine and dandy but from what I know, that's not what you would call a "healthy" relationship. What happened to chivalry? Leave that sort of pandering to the boys.

So iv been keeping up with this blog lately and it's really funny and insightful. It's called Imboycrazy.com. The blogger girl, Alexi Wasser, aka boycrazy offers perspectives from a woman's stand point and not only addresses woman but men too.

The thing is, theirs not short cut to a great relationship. If you have to pull all these Jedi mind trick to get a girl, Odds are she's not all right in the head or has daddy issues. And if she is all there, she's gonna quickly call you out for the lying prick weakling you are.

The best thing to do fellas, is just step up your game. Beautiful intelligent girls have their pick, and if you haven't stepped up your game, you re not even in the running. It's 2010, perfect time to change up the old routine.

We gotta realize, everybody wants the best for themselves. You could spot a crazy bitch can't you? What makes you think a women can't spot a scrub. So this new years, let's lay off the cheesy pick up lines and comments that eat at a women's confidence. Confidence is sexy, don't you want a chick that rules at life and is just as awesome as you?

May the best man win. Here's to the new year!

Dear ms. Zooey Deschanel,

This is my facebook profile. As microscopic as it is in the grand scheme, consider this a token to my affection to you. On the off chance that I may ever meet you and talk to you I believe that there is a great chance that you will fall for me, an Idea that I am very open too.

From what I have gathered, you are no longer available. However, it would be a shame if I would not be able to express my admiration for your beauty and charm. I've whole heartedly enjoyed your contributions to the film industry and was thrilled by your short lived appearance on "weeds". You are the essence of indie and I don't mean for you to take this in the wrong way what so ever.

When I first heard your music(she and him) I must confessed that I was not initially thrilled. However I quickly learned that it was an acquired taste and quickly I fell in love with your soulful vocals.

I don't mean to come on strong, though I do find you unbelievably attractive. The way your dark hair accents the milkiness of your skin drives me wild. Your a total babe! Your sarcastic intelligence is something I find incredibly sexy and feel would complement my persona perfectly. We would get along famously.

I am not certain as to weather you even like Asian boys like myself, although I would have to guarantee that I am like non other. I am not shy, I am not afraid to be who I am or dress the way I want. I will acknowledge my flaws and look ahead to a time when I'm am a better me. And if we were to date, I promise to be chivalrous and kind. If you are sad, I will do all that is within my power to make you smile. Together we would be on top of the world. I could be your tall/Asian/hipster boyfriend and you could be my white/indie queen/princess girlfriend.

you are truly a goddess. On the off chance that you may actually appreciate my sweet gestures and off beat remarks, I think we could be really happy together. If you were ever tired after a long day of recording or acting I would gladly be the shoulder you rest your head on. I would then look into your engulfing blue eyes and let you know how much I cared about you. I will write you a letter when I could simply text. I will bring you flowers on no occasion at all, because being in your presence is enough reward for me.

For you, I would be a great listener. I will cling to every detail as if my happiness depended on it. I will gladly sit and watch any movie with you as many times as you want. If we were planning on going out and you all of a sudden decided you wanted to stay in I wouldn't mind the slightest bit. I would take vegan cooking classes if that's what you'd like. I say that only because I'm under the impression that you enjoy healthy organic cuisine as do most sexy intelligent woman like yourself. However if you want a burger and fries, that's fine too ;)

Consider this to be the first of many proclamations of my love for you. Though if you are not at this point feeling unbelievably drawn to me, I am prepared to accept this. Perhaps a goddess such as yourself is far too holy for a Asian skaterboy dirtbag like myself, but that's okay. This is just how I feel, I wish everyone could be so honest with their feelings... That's life.

Love, jonn

Aka - ya manz?
